A Spirit of Loyalty Passed Down Through the Ages
A 70-Year Legacy: The Ako Gishi Procession

First held in Tokyo in 1950, the Ako Gishi Procession has a proud history spanning more than 70 years.
On February 4, 2024 (Reiwa 6), the event concluded with moving scenes, surrounded by heartfelt cheers from many supporters.
While the date of the Uchi-iri (the attack on Kira’s residence on December 14) is well known, the day on which the loyal retainers were ordered to take their own lives—February 4—is equally significant.
Very few places in Japan hold a procession focused primarily on memorial rites, and we believe that honoring both the Uchi-iri and the memorial is the truest form of tribute.
This year, for the first time, the procession marched through Ginza’s pedestrian boulevard. Participants shared in the spirit held by the loyal retainers and paid their respects at the graves of the 47 Ronin in Sengakuji.

Be a Witness to History.
The 36th Ako Gishi Procession will be held on December 14, 2025.
Experience the enduring spirit of the Forty-Seven Ronin—
walk in their footsteps, feel their resolve, and become part of this timeless tradition.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support.
We look forward to welcoming you to the next procession.
